These grants aim to support emerging needs in our community by funding community development projects that strengthen community connections, build capacity and address gaps affecting seniors.
The Fairfield City Council Community Development Seniors Grants support projects that benefit older people aged 65 and over, or 50 and over for Aboriginal people, and their carers by creating meaningful opportunities to participate, connect and build capacity within the community.
The priorities for this grant are to:
- Build community connections and capacity.
- Address social isolation, disadvantage and/or exclusion.
- Provide sustainable and meaningful opportunities for older people who may be at risk.
- Encourage positive community attitudes and behaviours towards ageing.
- Provide support for carers of older people.
Eligible activity types can include:
- Programs that raise awareness and provide education for older people about elder abuse.
- Programs that support carers of older people.
- Initiatives that encourage volunteering opportunities for older people.
- Learning opportunities that help older people explore new and useful technology.
- Activities that reduce social isolation.
- Initiatives that improve independence and daily living skills for older people who do not receive My Aged Care support.
- Small group activities that encourage connection, such as interest groups, social events or environmental activities.
Total amount of grant sought must not exceed $4,000.
